I am the founder of The Legacy Center, PLLC and am passionate about creating a safe place for adult individuals and couples to explore life’s challenges and their path towards intentional living and fulfilling relationships. My areas of interest and expertise include individual, pre-marital, couples, sexual health and dysfunction therapy, affair recovery, infertility, effective communication and conflict resolution, Spirituality-sensitive therapy, life coaching and transitions, and relationship enrichment.
I have worked in a variety of settings including a non-profit Christian counseling organization, crisis center, outpatient multidisciplinary Samaritan center, and a university counseling center. Utilizing culturally sensitive, integrative psychotherapy and Gottman Method Couples Therapy, focusing primarily on the Psychodynamic, Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy style, I aim to work with you to establish a collaborative strengths-based approach to your journey of wellness. My style and personality is honest, engaging, therapeutically challenging, authentic, and warm. I would be honored to join you on your journey!
I am a nationally and internationally invited speaker, consultant, and host for seminars, conferences and retreats on various topics, including but not limited to, marriage/relationships, sexual health and intimacy, mental health and wellness, effective leadership, and diversity/racial trauma. I am the co-author of My Lover for Life: Building a Solid Relationship workbook/DVD enrichment series, a Certified Prepare/Enrich Assessment Facilitator and Trainer, a Certified National QPR Suicide Prevention Trainer, Certified Sexual Assault & Crisis Counselor, and a Level 2 PAIRS Certified Instructor.

I am a Licensed Professional Counselor and pastoral counselor with over 40 years of experience leading and supporting people in all stages of life. I am enthusiastic about helping adolescents (ages 11-18), adults, and couples learn to identify their strengths and to better understand themselves in order to reach their full potential and live their best lives. I enjoy working with families, first responders with work or race-related trauma, and helping to equip couples with the skills for happy, healthy marriages.
I provide counseling services to a wide range of clients and families by guiding, empowering, assisting and supporting them through abusive and traumatic experiences, depression, anxiety, life transitions, and women’s issues. I implement a variety of therapeutic strategies to best fit each client on an individual level. I am certified in the following treatment orientations which represents the most common techniques that I use in therapy: Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), with an additional certification for Insomnia & Nightmares (CBT I&N), Trauma-Focused CBT (TF-CBT), Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT), and Prolonged Exposure Therapy (PE). I am a Certified Prepare/Enrich Assessment Facilitator and Trainer, Building Marriages for Life & Leadership Facilitator, and a Facilitator for the Inspire Women’s Leadership Institute. I love working from a more natural perspective, so I frequently use a more holistic framework in therapy to help my clients gain greater self-awareness. My husband and I have been married for over 45 years and have traveled to over 52 foreign countries together. I am a highly sought-after speaker nationally and internationally, for seminars, conferences and retreats. I am the founder of GettaSteppin, Inc.®, a national women’s empowerment organization that serves to educate, inspire and motivate women to realize their life goals and dreams. I am the founder of The Private Collection®, a specialized ministry for Women in Leadership, Senior Pastor’s Wives/First Ladies, and Co-Pastors offering the counseling and support needed for women in ministry.

I am a Licensed Professional Counselor with a passion for mental health awareness and wellness. I strive to help clients find their healthy balance in an often stressful and productivity driven society. I have over 15 years of experience in various mental health settings including residential facilities, non-profit mental health agencies, and higher education institutions. My areas of interest and expertise include the following: couples, cultural diversity, African American community, college students, crisis intervention, family and group therapy.
Through my years of experience, I have worked with a diverse population of clients including children, adolescents, adults, couples, and families. In my work with clients, I utilize systemic, person-centered, acceptance and commitment (ACT), cognitive behavioral (CBT), trauma focused, and relational cultural therapeutic approaches to counseling. I am a Certified National QPR Suicide Prevention trainer and remain dedicated to learning and honing my craft to better provide optimal support to others. Thus, currently as a doctoral candidate at Baylor University, I have engaged in research that will highlight and inform others about low help-seeking behaviors in African American male college students as it relates to mental health difficulties.
